Event 1. Truck Pull (23 tons for 25 meters). Flemming Rasmussen was the best with 47.84 sec, Magnus Samuelsson took second place with 49.42 sec, Svend Karlsen was third with 52.55 sec.

Event 2. Log-lift 105kg for max reps (time limit 60 sec). Rasmussen, Ahola and Collins did 12 reps each of the three, so they divided 1-3 places.

Event 3. Medley: car flip (4 reps) + running. Magnus Samuelsson won the event with 16.2 sec, Svend Karlsen was second with 16.59 sec and Heinz Ollesch showed third time – 16.76 sec.

Event 4. Shield (nature stone) 330.2 kg for max distance. Magnus Samuelsson carried the shield about 100 meters and won the event. Svend Karlsen became second with 86 meters and Jouko Ahola took third place with 84.02 meters.

Event 5. Squat for max weight (construction with slot machines). Mark Philippi became winner with 372.5 kg, Harold Collins was second with 365kg and Rasmussen finished with 360kg.

Event 6. Loading Medley (6 kegs 105kg each). Rasmussen finished with 46.06 sec, Ahola showed the second time – 51.2 sec and Bergmanis was third with 54.73 sec.

Event 7. Deadlift for max (barbell with two cages on both sides). Ahola was the best with 435kg, Mark Philippi was second with 432.5 kg and Bergmanis finished with 427.5kg.

Event 8. Medley: Duck walk 200kg for 35 meters + Tire flip 300kg + car push for 20m. Magnus Samuelsson was the fastest with 43.8 sec, Raimunds Bergmanis became second with 45.87 sec and Torfi Olafsson finished 48.37 sec.

So, Jouko Ahola got 61 pts in the Overall standing and became The World’s Strongest Man-1997.
